How to Share Vault Files Externally?

If you need to share an encrypted Vault file with someone outside your organization, there are two ways to do it.

  • The easiest way is to pull the file out of your Vault and send it (decrypted) in a secure email. The recipient will get an encrypted file that can be decrypted using the XQ Dashboard.

Only add decrypted files from your mounted Vault folder in secure emails.
Encrypted (.xqf) files should not be added to emails. The email add-ons will re-encrypt the files you add to an email.

  • The other way is for the other person to use Vault as well. You can share the encrypted file in the cloud tool of your choosing, and then add the recipient to your XQ team and provide them a Vault license. That way, they will use Vault to decrypt the file on their end.
