Vault Installation for Admins

This article provides installation steps for Secure Vault to help you get started.

If you do not yet have an XQ account and Product licences, see our article on Getting Started for Admins

Deploying Vault

The XQ Vault allows you to store data on your own infrastructure and track who accesses it.

To use Vault, you can have an administrator deploy the product broadly via AD or an MDM or have end-users download and install it themselves.

Included below are the relevant links for deploying Vault:

Configure the Vault folder Infrastructure

Vault can be used with Sharepoint/OneDrive, Google Drive, or even a local folder. In order to do so, the designated folder will need to be configured correctly by an administrator.

Sharepoint/OneDrive

  • With Vault, CUI and other files can be stored securely and synced to each team member with Sharepoint/OneDrive. To do this effectively, files need to be stored in a OneDrive Shared Library or a SharePoint Site. In order to sync files from SharePoint/OneDrive to team devices, the OneDrive app must be installed. Instructions can be found here for individual deployment
  • Once your file location is configured and the Sync App is on team devices, it is important to “Sync” this new location with the device so it is accessible on each device. This can be done by each individual or via admin control. Microsoft has guidance on this for Windows devices as well as Mac devices.

Google Drive

  • With Vault, CUI and other files can be stored securely and synced to each team member with Google Drive. To do this effectively, files need to be stored in Google Drive. In order to sync files to team devices, Drive for desktop must be installed. Instructions can be found here for individual deployment

Local Folder

  • Personal folders work well with Vault, but cannot be synced to the devices of other team members.

End Users and Vault

Once the infrastructure is in place and the Vault product is deployed, End Users will need to log into Vault and connect their folder.

Included below is a how-to article on using Vault.

Note: Due to the nature of Vault, much of what End Users need to be trained on is internal process. We provide the content on how to product works, but it is important to ensure End Users are aware of Why they are using Vault, What needs to be stored in it, and How their workflow will change.

Set up Data Policies

We recommend using our Data Loss Prevention and Data Access Policies to implement security-focused business practices within the file system of each team member. (NEEDS UPDATING)
